Dairy theme

Hello,
We moved to another country, where we bought an old house. We are rebuilding the house. And want to start a B&B when it is done.
To let our family know what we and our kids are doing and how the progress goes with our house and land, we would like to start some sort of a dairy.
The layout should be very simple and easy to navigate. Because not everyone on the home front is used to work with a computer or tablet.
We prefer theme where there is place for a calendar at the side where people can see on what date we have posted something.I found this theme:

This looks great but we prefer a more bright or nature look.Does anyone have some nice ideas?

First, your site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source version of WordPress at another host. You do have the site connected here via the Jetpack plugin, though, which gives you access to all our themes available at https://WordPress.com/themes
From what you describe, take a look at the options at this filter: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/right-sidebar+minimal
That’s all our themes that are classified as “Minimal”, but that also has a sidebar where you could add a calendar widget.
The WordPress software comes with a calendar widget included that automatically shows when you posted. You can find our documentation for that widget here – it should work exactly the same on your version of WordPress:

WordPress.org is where the open source WordPress software is made, and that software is then installed at a hosting provider’s servers to get the site online.
WordPress.com is one of many hosting providers for that software, and we use our own slightly modified version of it. Your site is using the standard version of that software at another host, but the Jetpack plugin you used to connect the site here gives you access to some of the extra features we’ve built for sites on our platform.
