Dara – Front Page Theme Options images linkable?
-
I’m trying make it so that only the images for the three pages i’ve selected to show as the theme options pages show but it includes lots of writing which I can’t seem to format in a way to cut it out – is this possible?
I’ve also tried creating three pages with just the three images with the intention that when somone clicks on the image it can link to a sister page with all the indepth info on – but then I can’t see a way to link it so a user clicks on the image and it goes to the page with all the info I do want on it.
Does anyone have a solution please? thanks!

Hi riodulcespa,
it includes lots of writing which I can’t seem to format in a way to cut it out – is this possible?
The three columns on the homepage don’t currently have any text underneath so does that mean this area is how you want it now? If not, which text would you like to remove?
but then I can’t see a way to link it so a user clicks on the image and it goes to the page with all the info I do want on it.
Try Our Natural Products, Treatments and Book Online are all linking through to the relevant pages from what I can see.

I believe the three front page featured pages on Dara will show content text by default. If an custom excerpt isn’t created, and the text is over 55 words in length, then it is automatically truncated at 55 words.
In this case (https://riodulcespa.com), the second front page featured page, “Treatments,” has text displayed under the featured image. The entire text content of the page is displayed. The other two static pages don’t have any visible content. No text. That’s why no text is displayed in the first and third front page featured pages.

Hi Gemma and MusicDoc1,
I posted this 3 days ago and have since chanced the content in the pages to just the feature image with no text which is why there’s no text / a few words now.
” If an custom excerpt isn’t created, and the text is over 55 words in length, then it is automatically truncated at 55 words.” thanks – that’s what I needed to know about that.

@ riodulcespa,
Hi. In case you’re interested, it is possible to prevent page content text from being displayed in a front page feature page on Dara without having to delete content from the page.
One way to accomplish this that I figured out is to insert a certain HTML tag into the excerpt module of the page editor (see Creating excerpts). For example, the following two tags will hide the page content from a front page featured page:
break tag = <br> table row tag = <tr>I’m sure that other such HTML tags will work as well.
@gemmacevans might offer other ways of producing the same result, perhaps involving CSS. -
BR would just be stripped. Editing the excerpt is the best bet. You can also use the “more” tag.

I think you misunderstood the purpose for the tag. It hides text content of a page from displaying under the the featured image of the corresponding front page featured page.
By default, a front page featured page on Dara will display the first 55 words of text in the page content. Inserting either of the HTML tags that I suggested will hide all page content text, whether it’s fewer or greater than 55 words, from displaying on the front page in the featured content section.
I’ve been using such tags to hide text on certain themes for years.

In the OP, @riodulcespa indicates a desire to prevent page content text from displaying under the featured images of the Front page featured pages, saying:
I’m trying make it so that only the images for the three pages i’ve selected to show as the theme options pages show but it includes lots of writing which I can’t seem to format in a way to cut it out – is this possible?
And later seems to conclude that leaving the pages empty of all content or with at most “a few words” is the best solution, saying:
I posted this 3 days ago and have since chanced the content in the pages to just the feature image with no text which is why there’s no text / a few words now.
I’ve provided a different solution that doesn’t require leaving the content of the pages chosen as the front page featured pages empty or almost so.

The tags don’t get stripped from the excerpt module. I can show you an example in a test site.
