Dara Theme – Front/Home Page

    I recently added Sharing to my website. It works fine for the most part, but I have two problems:
    1. It seems to work fine on all the pages except my Front/Home Page. When I share the Front/Home Page on Facebook, The name of my site is misspelled and I can’t find where the Share is picking that up from so I can correct the spelling.
    2. Also, the Share of all the other pages shows the Featured Image of that page, but on the Front/Home Page, the image space on the Share is blank.

    Help!

    I think the home page was displaying the latest posts when I looked last night. On most themes the blog page cannot have a featured image. Is this issue resolved now with a static front page set?

    musicdoc1, Thanks for your help.

    I’ve decided I just have the wrong theme. I don’t want to support posting and this feature, which seems to be a prominent one in this theme, has caused me problems since I began building this site. I am an experienced website-builder, but only with MS FrontPage and MS Expressions. This is my first attempt using WordPress. I like it and am learning a lot as I go, but I just chose the Dara theme when I began because it was the first one offered to me.

    So…now my questions are “How do I change themes?”, and “Where can I find a list of themes from which to choose?” And yes, I have searched both the forums and Google for an answer to this question, but could not find any.

    I’d appreciate your pointing me in the right direction.

    Bill,

    Here’s a good place to begin looking for support pages on various topics: https://en.support.wordpress.com/. Just enter a keyword such as “themes,” “widgets,” “featured images,” etc. in the search bar and you’ll be given a list of (hopefully) relavent support pages to choose from.

    “Where can I find a list of themes from which to choose?”

    1. WordPress.com Themes Showcase — https://wordpress.com/themes/
    2. My Sites > My Sites menu > Personalize > Themes
    3. WP Admin dashboard panel > Appearance > Themes

    “How do I change themes?”

    See the Themes support page, particularly the Activate a Theme, Browse Themes, and Switch Themes sections.

    You’re welcome, Bill.

    Some of the annual themes such as Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Sixteen are pretty basic.
