Dara theme: possible to limit number of posts on front page?

At the moment I have my blog page as one of the three featured pages on the front page of my website.

Is it possible to set it up so that when people click ‘Blog’ in my top menu it shows them the last ten posts, but so that only the one most recent post shows up on the front page?

It seems really clunky to make it so that if people click on the blog menu they then have to keep hitting ‘older post’ to get to previous posts one at a time, but it also looks clunky to have the ten or five most recent ones showing up on the front page of the site.

    Thank you in advance!

  • I see the challenge! Since the blog page isn’t a “real” static page, it’s not really meant to be used as a featured page in the way you’d like. And there is only one, site-wide, setting for “posts per page.”

If you want, you could use a Display WordPress Posts or Recent Posts widget in one of the theme’s widget areas – that might work better for you, as they let you set the number of posts you’d like to display.

Alternately, if you can live without the slider, you might want to look at Sela, Dara’s sister theme. Sela’s demo uses text widgets below the main “hero” area, instead of selectable featured pages – so it has a little more flexibility, and it would let you link to the blog directly.

Let me know how it goes.
