Darkening/Changing Color of Light Gray Font for Visibility

  • Unknown's avatar

    One of the main text colors on my Oxygen-themed blog is a light gray that is barely visible. It also happens to be the one color that I can’t edit outside of CSS, and I’m new to CSS, so I really don’t even know where to begin.

    If you look at my page, you can’t miss the light gray font. It’s the tagline and most of the main headings. I’d like to switch it to a dark blue – either the same shade as the “about” link or darker.

    Thanks in advance!

    Here’s the code you need to change the site description, widget headers and post metadata. As the metadata bits are links I’ve also included a section so you can set a different colour for the hover state so people know they’re links when they mouse over them. Try it out and pick whichever colours you prefer:

    .site-description, .widgettitle, .entry-meta a {
      color:#555;
    }
    .entry-meta a:hover {
      color:#aaa; text-decoration: underline;
    }

    Wonderful, thank you very much!

    Do you happen to know of a table with different color codes – i.e. which codes to use for which colors?

    Here’s a colour picker that will give you the hex codes you need, it was one of the first search results for “hex colour code picker” but there’s plenty more out there to try.
