What happens when you try to go to your dashboard directly using this URL:
-
takes me to a page titled dashboard with as page full of what has been going on over a period,
But the home page when I go to the word Bookshelf no drop down dash board like it used to be, to allow me to make changes
I have never had this trouble before this weekend

I am not having trouble using the dropdown menu to get to your dashboard. Just for an experiment, can you try using a different web browser and let me know if you still have the same issue?
-
I don’t think I am explaing right?
The drop down menu is not the issuu about dashboard
it is what you call the grey area where my title Bookshelf is and Follow thasts all there is there, whereas before it had the stats wavey lines icon etc. then if I hovered over my title bookshelf
Thre dashboard drops down . now it doesnt so I can’t do anything with my blog and have to go to somewhere else to post a nrew message. Just try on my word” Bookshelf” and see if the dashboard appears to you. It is the same i n I E browser.
Would IO be better changing the theme or will I lose all my data and have to start all over again
-
Can you correct the dashboard problem from your end please?
could youi check by hovering over my title bookshelf to see if the dropdown dashboard appears for you?
Or if I changed themes to enable a dashboard would I lose all my data like posts , pages etc
I do so want to resolve this issue and if changing my theme will do it I am happy to go that route
Thanks

if you can see my dropdown dashboard, why can’t I? there must be an explanation, just the same i n another browser
How do I overcome and get it back?
Thanks
Maurice -
Changing the theme will have no effect on that dropdown menu.
Have you tried accessing your site on a different computer?
-
no I have not got thre opportunity to as I am housebound. so I have had it then, no resolution?
-
The reason I was hoping that you could check on a different computer is that, if you were successful, it would indicate that the issue was with your computer itself, rather than the WordPress.com system. As I cannot replicate the issue and I am not hearing any other reports of users having this issue, it is very hard to track down the source of the problem.
Do you have any security programs that might be blocking access for some reason? Have you tried logging out and back in again? Can you try using a different browser on your computer (Chrome or Safari perhaps)?
-
Hi thanks for your suggestions, but if was a fault on my Pc then wouldn’t I have the same dashboard problem with my other wordpress blog/sites?
I have no dashboard problems with them other than Bookshelf and up until last weekend it was fine with Bookshelf. It happens with Firefox and I E, I have not tried the others you mention because of my above comment, Yes I have logged in and out many times to no avail
If I tried to scan with Norton what link or site of WordPress would I use to try a scan?
Normal scanning picks up nothing, but a special scan might?
As you said transferring to another theme does not resolve it as I have tried.
Its driving me nuts because I have not got all the tools I need to continue the blog and not being able to transfer the data to another. There must be an answersomewhere?

Ps in another thread I started on the problem with dashboard someone else did post with dashboard problem.

Can you show me a screenshot of what you are seeing when you view your dashboard at this URL:
https://mauricetudorbookstore.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Here are some screenshot instructions if you are not familiar with the process:
I find http://snag.gy/ to be very useful for sharing screenshots. You can also upload the screenshot to your site’s media library. I will be able to see it there.
-
sorry for the delay in responding but i have been laid up in bed the past few days, have mad a screen shot but no way to add to media/ What I see in admin is probably what you see just a page called dashboard by not lettiong me do anything because of no links/ Per haps if you sent me a screenshot of what you see then we can compare/

When you go to https://mauricetudorbookstore.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ this is a screenshot of what you should be seeing:
-
Yes the Black dropdown
All I see from the admin link you sent is the white section allowing me to do nothing except add a new post

rootjosh replied to a forum topic that you subscribe to
in response to the topic “Dash Board”:
Is this the dropdown you are missing:
http://snag.gy/MEKnQ.jpg
(that is a screenshot of what I see when I view your site) -
All I see from the admin link you sent is the white section allowing me to do nothing except add a new post
So you do not see the menu down the left hand side? The one that says “Reader, Dashboard, Store, Posts, etc”
-
No
Thats what I have been saying from the start
seems you can’t remedy it then?
Thanks

Okay, is this more like what you see?
https://cloudup.com/cF2XtsEVyCJI ask as I noticed your browser window is just 800px wide. This means that the Dashboard tries to react as if you were using a smaller screen, like a tablet. Those icons down the left would be shortcuts to Posts, Pages, and more but the text labels don’t appear. It’s a way to save space but can also be confusing.
I read back through everything here and realized that might be where part of the difference here comes from.
