An empty dotted lined box appeared in my dashboard to the far top right, squeezing everything else to the left. I hovered the cursor over it but nothing appears to indicate what it can be?

If you click on the dotted line, it should be leading to your Site Stats page: https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/pviljoen.wordpress.com.
If you over the dotted line, a box should appear and say: “Showing site view per hour for the last 48 hours. Click for full Site Stats.”Please let me know if the box doesn’t appear while hovering on the dotted points and if they send you to your Site Stats page. Thanks!

Stefania, no, sorry, it doesn’t look like the page you posted. I took a printscreen shot of my dashboard page but it wouldn’t paste in here. If I’m in my dashboard page, on the far left I have a column with the list of Home, comments I made, pages, posts, widgets etc etc. Next to that is a column ”At a Glance” with the amount of posts I made, amount of comments amount of pages, undeneath which is a box called ”Activity” underneath that ”Your Stuff” etc. Next to this column is another column with: ‘quick post’ underneath that ‘Stats’ with the graph of site visits and views and underneath that top posts of the last week. Then next to the far right of all this is now an empty box with a dashed line, complete box but it’s empty and if I click on it nothing happens and it doesn’t say what’s it for or about. Hope this is clear.

I found a Staff response to this issue on an old thread. It says:
The dashboard is responsive to the size of your browser window, so on larger screen sizes you may see three (or more) columns for your dashboard modules. You’ll get a box with dotted lines if you don’t have any dashboard modules in a particular column — you can drag and drop the modules on your dashboard to reorganize them.
If you prefer to have two columns, instead, you can resize your browser window. With smaller windows, you’ll have fewer columns.
I hope this clarifies that. Let me know if that makes sense with what you can see on your Dashboard!

I think it does. It’s just that I’ve never seen it before, been in my dashboard just yesterday and this funny dashed line empty box wasn’t there and today it isn’t. And the browser window is as it always is, i.e. full screen on my laptop. Anyway, I’ll see what to do and will get back if it persists. Thanks for the effort.
