Dashboard

Hi, after several years, I am updating my website, but I get an error message.

‘You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error).

This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Jetpack plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS.
If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server.
Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.’ I guess wordpress does not want to go to the expense of helpings its users, but if anybody out there has an idea, thanks.

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

  • Hello –

You see your previous WordPress site in your WordPress.com dashboard because you had connected your site to your WordPress.com account using the Jetpack plugin. However, this connection only allows you to manage some aspects of your site from that dashboard and does not serve as a backup for your site. If the origin site is deleted or disconnected, we also clear that content from your dashboard since the connection no longer exists.

If you did not have backups of this site or did not download a full directory (including your database) of your site before , I’m afraid your content may be lost if you cancelled your original hosting.

Looking closely at http://thedelphinetwork.com/ I can see it’s on a parked GoDaddy page.
