  Once I log into my site http://www.dolcevitawines.wordpress.com my dashboard does not come up? I cannot change my appearance, basically I cannot update my site?

  You could be viewing the default dashboard rather than the dashboard for your blog. See here please > My Blogs
  Go to the gray navigation bar and find Blogs when you hover over it click the link to the blog.
