dashboard disappeared and website broke

  • Unknown's avatar

I am working on a wordpress website (through the app local). On the wordpress dashboard, where you can find your settings, pages, etc I changed the link of the website and added ‘/home’. Now I get a 404 error. My website looks broken and I can’t get back to the wordpress dashboard, so I can’t remover the ‘home’ that I added.

Is there a way to reset my changes to the ones from yesterday? Or can I get back into the usual wordpress dashboard to ?

I hope my question is clear (English is not my first language) and I hope you can help me out.

    Hi there!

Thanks for getting in touch. To avoid any confusion, it’s important to distinguish between three different versions of “WordPress”:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.

Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

As you’re using the open-source version of the WordPress platform, which operates differently from what we provide on WordPress.com, you can find help at the community forums here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

The community members in the open-source forum are well-versed in these matters and are in the best position to offer support.

I hope this information helps guide you in the right direction. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions or need more assistance.
