Dashboard edits after new domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I just changed my blog’s domain from jaycroftcontent.wordpress.com to storycroft.com, which shows up fine on the browser and I can read all my pages. But when I go into my dashboard to make changes, it goes to storycroft.wordpress.com… How do I make it go into storycroft.com so the edits I make show up on the site? Thank you. Even on the dropdown below, it says my blog url is storycroft.wordpress.com. But I went through the process of making it story croft.com and paid the $18.. I’m confused.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Jay,

Please note that storycroft.com is the domain name that you have mapped to your WordPress.com site: storycroft.wordpress.com. What happens is that your old address (storycroft.wordpress.com) will still work, but we will automatically redirect traffic from your old address to your new one. So while storycroft.wordpress.com will always exist, all your edits/changes to this site will be found at storycroft.com as long as the domain is renewed yearly. Think of the domain name: storycroft.com as just an address to find your site. Your domain exists independently of your site.

Please note that jaycroftcontent.wordpress.com is a separate site that you have titled as Storycroft. Any changes to this site will not be viewed on storycroft.com.

Please let me know if this clears things up for you. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

    Happy New Year!

Ah, I see… I was worrying over nothing! Thank you for explaining it so well and quickly. One more, if I may… Before I created the storycroft domain, I had my comcast email in the sidebar. Should I change that to a storycroft email, and if so, how do I do that?

Wait… one more thing… When I’m on a page other than the home page, the HOME tab tries to take me to the home page of storycroft.wordpress.com. I mean, as a reader it tries to take me there, so I get a broken link. How do I fix that?

    Hi Jay!

Yes, you can set up email forwarding (which I think would be the simplest option), which allows you to set up virtual email addresses that contain your custom domain and forward messages to the email address you choose.

This guide will help you set that up.

When I’m on a page other than the home page, the HOME tab tries to take me to the home page of storycroft.wordpress.com. I mean, as a reader it tries to take me there, so I get a broken link. How do I fix that?

I’m trying to reproduce this issue, but I’m unable to. When I go to another page like, Social Media or Atlanta, and go back to Home, I found that I was taken to your Home page (not a broken link). If you can produce this issue, can you please provide me a screenshot and upload it to your media library? I’d be more than happy to take a closer look!

    Cheers!
