Dashboard layout and display problem

    Hi folks,

First time for me in one of these fora so apologies if my protocol is wrong or if this is too long.

I have a bit of experience with wordpress on my own blogs. I just set up a new blog for a friend who’s got some disabilities and he’s very excited about the possibilities of blogging. The problem is that on his computer when you go to add or edit a post in the dashboard, the text box for typing in the text is extra large as if it’s magnified and too wide so that about a third of the rightmost part is hidden under the boxes in column two. So as you’re typing, the cursor goes under column two and you can’t see what you’re doing until the cursor moves to the left edge of the next line. This doesn’t happen on my computers [a Mac and a PC] so I’m pretty sure the problem is with his computer maybe with his settings? Can anyone give me some hints about what I could try to change on his computer such as settings or preferences to fix this? I think blogging may become a major pleasure in his pretty tough life so I want to fix this quickly so he doesn’t become frustrated by the difficulty of posting before he starts having fun.

    Thanks.

I’m visually challenged and can identify. What’s his operating system and which browser and version of it is he using?

Also are you referring to a wordpress.com blog or a wordpress.org self hosted install?

It’s a wordpress.com blog and he’s using Windows XP and IE version 8. Thanks for the quick response.

I’m on windowx XP and have IE8 but rarely use it. Tell him to install Firefox. As for the problem you describe above I have not experienced it (fingers crossed). I have no solution and hope that the techy types will be able to help.

Thanks for your suggestion about Firefox; I’ll pass that on to him.
