Dashboard not appearing after log in

After logging in I do not get the dashboard displaying. Instead end up with another screen mostly blue.
My Site, Reader on the left on the upper toolbar, on the right of the this toolbar there are three other icons.

Could you please advise what is wrong with my configuration so I can get the dashboard when I log in.

    Thanks for any help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What you are seeing is the newer dashboard—all of the main site editing functions and settings are available under My Site. If you are willing to try that dashboard, it’s the one WordPress.com is putting future efforts into.

You may also reach the older style dashboard by adding /wp-admin to the end of your home page URL. The majority of updates to the older dashboard are done by the open source WordPress project. However, please consider giving the new one a try! If you have any trouble or cannot find your way, let me know and I will try to help.

Thanks for your guidance, what confused me is all the tutorials are using the older dashboard.
As well there does not appear to be the functions on the new dashboard that the older one has.
As I am having a lot of difficulty with setting up my posts think I will revert to the older version.

At least until I sort things out.

    Thanks for your response.

We’ll see if we can get more of the tutorials updated. Sorry about that!

Just one question, where and how do I put the extra info i.e /wp-admin onto my home page URL.

Is it necessary to delete my URL and put in a new one ?

    Thanks

You add it to the end of your blog address, like this: example.wordpress.com/wp-admin
