Dashboard not loading properly

  • Unknown's avatar

So, I’m rather new to WordPress, but I was using it yesterday just fine (though it was a little slow to publish pages), but today every time I try to log in, the dashboard looks like this.

Is this a local issue (I’m accesing via my work computer through our company’s network), even though it worked fine yesterday? Any advice you could recommend would be appreciate; I already tried clearing my cache/cookies, and used multiple browsers.

Please provide an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question when posting to this forum.

    Um, alright…

But it loads fine, that’s not my question. My question is with the dashboard/admin console and why it’s not loading for any blogs under my account. I provided the active link to an image of what I’m dealing with, but I’ll post it again without HTML:

My question is with the dashboard/admin console and why it’s not loading for any blogs under my account.

How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.

Are you an Admin for the blog/blogs in question?

At first I was going to reply angrily that I had answered almost all of those questions in my original question, so your response was obviously a cut/paste job.

But then I used your suggestion of using https:// instead of http://, and it began loading properly. So all my rage subsided.

    Thanks!

You’re welcome. You are also correct. I did use a copy and paste answer because in many cases one of those factors are the cause of the problem. Even in cases where they aren’t all the answers to those questions ought to be included in a support ticket for Staff. When they aren’t included then getting an answer is delayed as Staff have to send emails back and forth to get the information so they can so a parallel set up and attempt to duplicate the issue. Only then can they provide a solution.

Best wishes with your blog. :)
