Dashboard showing more pages than I have, Deleted pages still show up on Google
-
Hello All!
So I know deleted pages take a while to fall off of searches and that is beyond the control of WordPress. However, before I make a request to Google to remove dead pages from search results, I wanted to confirm something.
When I select “Pages” from my dashboard, it shows the one page I actually have published, but the count on the “Published” tab says “9” instead. I had originally used a starter template that had multiple pages (which I didn’t think I had published), and I deleted those. I even ended up completely resetting my site as I rebuilt it with a different theme due to conflicts. And yet it still shows a count of nine pages, but only shows the one I actually have published on the list.
Is there some other way I can see what pages WordPress think I have published and get rid of them? I can and will request that Google remove dead pages from the search results, but I want to try to clear them from my WordPress account as well.
Thanks!

Hi there.
It’s normal for a site you deleted to be still indexed. It takes time for the Google search engine to notice that the page no longer exists and remove it.
