  Hi,
  Total newbie here. Someone ask me to take a look at their site as the original admin is no longer on the seen. Have never used WordPress really at all. Using version 4.0.

  After browsing about the site and backend for an hour or two, it seems to me that my menu options on the left pane of the dashboard are not showing up all the options. For example Settings is missing and Appearance as well. Im probably missing something really obvious.

  My options in order are:
  Posts, Media, Pages, Comments, Contact, Calendar, Profile, Tools, SEO, Meta Slider (not showing Settings, Appearance)

  Any help would be much appreciated.

  Where’s the URL?

  I can already guess that’s not a WordPress.COM blog. My guess is that it is WordPress.ORG software install. You are posting to the wrong support forum and we cannot help you.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
