Dashboard widgets gone
-
Hello – We LOST our 14 year old blog, http://www.greenglobaltrek.com, which was REGISTERED with namecheap.com, and HOSTED by BLUEHOST. After HOURS of frustration, the only way we could figure out not to LOSE all our accummulated content was to open a NEW DOMAIN, now http://www.greenglobaltrek.ORG. It seems that BLUEHOST was able to retrieve a back up of the current PUBLISHED posts. That’s a good start. NOW, as I log into the NEW http://www.greenglobaltrek.ORG, I see past blog posts, but I have lost the ‘normal’ dashboard which has basic widgets such as POSTS, COMMENTS etc… These are just gone. Can ANYONE please help??

I am trying to get livechat support. Guidance is to go to wordpress.com and go to ‘contact’, but there is no such button or link.

You get Livechat only if you have a paid site here at WordPress.com. If you have a Bluehost site you need to ask them for assistance or register an account at the correct support forum for the software your site uses:

Are you looking at greenglobaltrek.ORG/wp-admin ? That’s likely to be your best bet.
Also, these forums are actually for the sites hosted here at WordPress.com. Our setup is a bit different:
Your host will be your best bet for help, but you can also find help for the free WordPress software at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ .
Or, if you’re hoping to move your site here, here’s how to get started:

THank you Supernovia and magicrobot – unfortunately, I am not understanding your response and guidance.
NO, I am NOT trying to migrate the hosting of my website. But YES I am using a Word Press site and the issue I face has NOTHING to do with BlueHost – it is about features missing on the wordpress blog, so BlueHost states that they cannot help. I have no understanding of the subtlety between wordpress.org versus wordpress.com – can you please advise who is responsible for the integrity and proper functioning of wordpress blog sites??
I would REALLY appreciate your specific guidance, not sending me off to other parties as I am completely lost here and completely frustrated after two days of non stop trying and failing to resolve what seems like a rather small issue. As of right now, I am dead in the water with an inability to do what I have been doing without any problem for 12 years. Surely there is a WOrdPress point of contact who can help resolve this???

You are currently logged in to a WordPress.com account. WordPress.com is another host just like Bluehost is. But here sites use a modified version of the wordpress software. Paid plans here include great support from staff and most issues are resolved quickly.
Your site is over there at Bluehost. It uses the free wordpress software that works slightly differently to the version on my site here at WordPress.com. As for support you are pretty much on your own if your host doesn’t include assistance. Your only option is to register an account and ask for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ as I mentioned earlier. There you’ll find volunteers who possibly might help you but there will be nothing like the support you’d get if your site was hosted here at WordPress.com.
PS: It sounds like Bluehost recovered the content of your old site. But the settings of menus widgets etc don’t transfer over. That is something you need to rebuild yourself.
