Dashboard/UI items are not functioning
-
We just started having problems with various menu items and other links in the UI not working. This is across multiple machines and browsers, I’ve tried logging out and back in, clearing cookies, etc. This has persisted for over a day now. Specific non-functioning areas include Quick Edit, Add Tags, Help dropdown, Screen Options dropdown, and more. Clicking one of these links results in nothing, as if there is no link at all. Also, our fav.icon has disappeared from the toolbar.
Have tried using Firefox and Chrome (latest versions). My co-workers are having the same problem on their machines, so I know it’s not a local setting. Thanks!

Anyone have an idea on this? It’s pretty frustrating. Seems to be limited to .php functions since the WYSIWYG editor works and we’re able to publish. We just can’t access some of the other functions.

I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. The main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers as yet.
How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) please?
Exactly which browser and version of it are you using? -
We are all connecting on PC’s running Windows 7 with cable DSL connection. No tablets or mobile devices. This has never been an issue before today. Our icon is also missing from the dashboard and the support center, which is weird.
Browser versions:
Firefox 12.0
Chrome 19.0.1084.52 mAgain, this has not been a problem before, it just started.

Thanks, timethief. The problem is still here today. No idea what could be the cause, hoping someone else has had a similar issue and can provide some options to troubleshoot.

Turns out our firewall suddenly started blocking some of the wp.com server locations where certain scripts in the UI are located. Tried to whitelist them, but it didn’t work. Finally had to change our network DNS servers to get around the firewall. Works now, but makes our machines more vulnerable, so I’m not a fan of this solution.

You’ll need to actually whitelist the wp.com content servers, as we have no way to get around your firewall ourselves. I recommend getting in touch with your network admin.
