Data on server
-
I had to delete an image from my wordpress site, but I want to make sure it is off the server…. The image owner wants the image removed both from the post and ‘from the server’. Not sure what that means. I permanently deleted the post- does that mean the photo that was used is gone and I’m okay?
ALSO URL thisfitchick.net/blogfunIts on both
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there –
I would move it completely from your media library just to be safe:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/deleting-files/
However…
Images (and other media) that you delete from WordPress.com still may be cached by search engines. In those cases, you should contact the search engine directly to find out how to remove the images from their servers.

I found instructions on how to go about removing images from the Google search engine in case you find it: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/181721?hl=en

There is a very spotty record of success there. If you have a takedown order from a court of law, they’ll take it down. Otherwise, they generally won’t.

raincoaster has said it all. Been there and been through that without positive results, so it’s why I did not post that link. However, good searching. :) -
As the links by staff-doublebassd shows – to remove an image “from the server” the image needs to deleted from your media library and then the WordPress.COM servers might cache an image file for up to 3 days or so.
