Data retention

    Hi WordPress team,
    I have been approached by the mother of Dave. Dave ran the wordpress blog davestafford.wordpress.com. Dave passed away in 2018, but his articles are very regularly seen by public eyes due to the importance of his content.
    His mother would like to keep this blog online. She does not have access to the website, and she does not know the login. I am concerned that because nobody signs into the account, it may be archived, and we would like to know if this will remain online.

    If nobody signs in to the account for an extended period, will the website still remain online?

    Hello there,

    Please accept my condolences for the loss of a loved one.

    It will remain on the internet in its current form.


    However, When an owner of a WordPress.com site passes away, WordPress.com prefers to help the estate or family determine what should happen to their loved one’s site.
