Database connection error
-
I recently restored the website from a backup. I copied the relevant folders from the .tar.gz backup file on my local machine to the server using FileZilla, and ran the mysql script on the database on PHPMyAdmin. However I did not see any of the posts on the site after doing so.
I looked in the file wp-config.php on the server and saw the database name was elsolfou_wp1964 which was different than the database I was accessing on PHPMyAdmin, which was named i82z44070885357. I updated wp-config.php to point to the new database name thinking that would fix it, but I got the error “Error establishing a database connection”. I reverted the wp-config.php to the original version, but I still get the same “error establishing a database connection” message. Thanks for your help!

Hello there,
It looks like elsolfoundation.org is a self-hosted WordPress site, which is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
You would need to reach out to your theme/plugin developers or the hosting provider for further assistance.
I hope this helps.
