Database issues

After 8 years, I have more than 20,000 posts and 12,200 comments (at one time I was ranked the top single-person blogger). It appears, though I am not certain, that the database now places too much demand on the server and I get mysql_slow_queries around the clock (with currently just 300 page views/day). I am also getting pretty consistent cpu throttling. I don’t believe I am placing any unusual demands on the server with plugins, etc. My questions: Is it time to split the blog and start fresh, and if so, what would you recommend? Or is there a simpler solution I am overlooking? The database is 31MB (62 with indexes).

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are posting to the wrong support forum. This one is only for those with free hosted WordPress.COM blogs. You need to post to http://wordpress.ORG/support as we run on different software and cannot help you here.
