database to big – from blog to website

Hi, I’m switching my blog to a self-hosted .org site. I wanted to export all my posts to this new site. I follow the export steps but the file it creates only contains the XML file naturaltrekking.wordpress.2013-12-09.xml’ and not .sql file to import.

    Please advise accordingly. Thanks,

We provide an .xml file for exporting but no .sql file. Using the .xml file should be sufficient to export your blog’s posts, pages, media library and comments.

Unfortunately the xml file didn’t seem to have saved all of the blog. That’s what I thought may be you provided an sql file as well. Out of 1600 pictures only 76 where imported. Out of 5,449.13 MB Space Used the xml file created was only 3.00 MB (3,148,087 bytes).

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I’d first try exporting your site again in case there was an error with the first export.

You may need to break up your export file into smaller files based on dates. If you choose the posts or pages option, you can export a range of dates.

If neither of those suggestions work, let me know and I can assist you further.

    Hello again,

So I ended up exporting each category. For some I had to break each category into two files, and that seemed to work. However, the photos attached to the slideshows on the posts didn’t export at all, therefore, no slideshows either. I got now a total of 130 pics out of 1600 on the media tab.

    Any other suggestions? Cheers,

I have sent you an email with a link to an export file.
