date and author removal on front page

    How can I remove the date and author post as well as that star sign on my front page of the collective theme?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there, I’m not seeing any posts on your main page, but working off of the Collective demo site here, the following CSS would remove the author and date from above the post titles on the main page.

    .home .post-author {
        display: none;
    }

    The above targets the home page only. If you also want the date removed from archives, categories, tags and single post pages, then use this instead.

    .post-author {
        display: none;
    }

    I’m not seeing any star on the main page of the demo site, so I would need to see it on your site. If you add a post, I can then look and figure out how to remove it.

    Hi!

    Right, there are no posts yet and the problem seemed to have been solved somehow. But even in the beginning when the star sign was there I didn’t have any posts, it was right where the green title is placed now (only on the front page). It might appear later on again.. (let’s hope not).

    I don’t want any date or author posts at all since my homepage will be used as for marketing/sales reasons (real estate). Are all the themes blog based?

    and another question. The CSS is different in every theme so how do I know how and what to type in to make a change?? Sorry but I am total newbie!

    Thanks for the help!

    All themes have a blog capability, but you do not have to use it if you do not wish to. You can instead use static pages. The second bit of code will remove the date from all posts, everywhere on your site.

    The best way to find the CSS for a particular element in your site is to use the web inspector built into your browser. Take a look at our support document on How to Find Your Theme’s CSS, which has some brief screencasts to get you started using it. It makes working with CSS much easier.

    thanks!

    – Is it possible to change the height of the banner where the main menu is placed? I’d like to have it a bit smaller.

    – How do I change the text color inside that banner?

    – When I hover over the menu, there seems to be a border at the top and the bottom, can I remove it?

    – Also I’d like to change the color when a page/menu is active, I want to have the same color active as when I hover over it.

    – How do I make changes for the submenu? when I did some for the main navigation, the submenu didn’t seem to change at all. I’d like to have the same colors (maybe different text size) and text align on the left and if possible the same balk size as the main menu.

    Thank you in advance!

    @alinefringer, it looks like you are now self-hosting your site instead of hosting it here at WordPress.com. For self-hosted WordPress sites, I would suggest asking for help from the theme author directly or ask in the volunteer-based WordPress.org Themes and Templates forum.
