Date and Time settings missing!

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I am trying to edit the date format in my blog posts, because they now show something as ‘posted 7 days ago’ by default. But the date and time settings option is missing in the General Settings section, so I am not able to change it. Do others also experience it? Or does it have to do something with the theme I have chosen? Thank you in advance for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,

Are you trying to set the date and time formats on the WP Admin dashboard? It should be there, in the General Settings, regardless your Theme choice.

Add /wp-admin to the end of your site’s URL to open the WP Admin.

    I hope it helps,
    Gina

Thanks for your response, Gina! I was able to access the WP Admin dashboard after you sent me the link. But even after saving the settings, I don’t see the date format being applied to my post. I am unable to figure out the reason.

One of the tutorials websites says ”Once you save your settings, it will use this format through out your website unless your theme has pre-defined the format.”
    http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-change-date-and-time-format-in-wordpress/

Not sure what pre-defined format means. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Shagun

It looks like that “published one week ago” at the top of the post is a feature of the Expound theme. The actual date appears in faint print at the bottom of each post along with the tags.

    Hi themagicrobot,

    Thanks for looking into it!
Disappointing, but looks like this is the reason. :-(

    Hi again!

Do you know if this can be edited with a code?
I really want to avoid changing my theme. It is perfect for my requirements.

    Thanks a lot in advance..!

    Hello Shagun,

I am afraid, themagicrobot is right, this date format on the top of the post seems to come with the theme you chose and the only thing you can set is the date format below the post.

You can not edit the code on WordPress.com.

I am sorry and I can understand it is frustrating because you want all details to be perfect on your blog but I think, it’s a relatively small thing, if you keep writing great content, no one will notice it. :)

    Cheers,
    Gina

Thanks for looking into it, Gina. I was somehow under the assumption that it is possible to edit the display of post meta data. But may be not. Thanks a lot for letting me know!
    Cheers,
    Shagun
