  Do we have to have the date of all articles displayed? Is there a way to nix it

  Depends on the theme you are using and if you have purchased the CSS upgrade.

  It’s possible to nix it, but only if you pay.

  Are you looking to just display the date at the first post for that day instead? I think there’s a couple of themes that do that.
