Date first published on homepage – how to get rid?
-
Hi everyone,
I use my wordpress, not really as a blog but as a professional portfolio.
I first set it up on 16th February 2009, and that date is STUCK THERE on the home page.
As I want to look really current, and not like my site is an ancient holding page – is there any way I can get rid of it?
Thanks,
Anne Marie

Hi there,
Please post the URL for the blog in question starting with http:// so we can give you useful advice. Posts always include the date in the URL because posts are all about specific points in time. Some static page URLs in some theme only do not contain a date in the URL. -

Thank you.
Unfortunately, on that theme the date is hard-coded in and you’re stuck with it unless you’d like to learn CSS to an intermediate level and then purchase the CSS upgrade to edit it.
You can move to a different theme that’s got a less conspicious date, but that’s about your only option other than just living with it.

If you wish to have that intro on permanent display but without the date, you must publish it as a static page, not a post, then set that page as your blog front. See here:

Thanks so much guys,
I really really like the theme I’m using so I might try panaghiotisadam’s option, as soon as I can muster up a few brain cells.
Cheers!

Hi,
you can re-post the post to make it look more actual. Just go to “Edit this post” and update the date. I know… not a super genious answer, but it works for me.
