Dates but not results to be viewed in search

I have just imported a blog and all looks well. However, when I search using the blog search tool, I just see a list of dates with no visible results. What am I missing in setup? Best wishes John

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You didn’t happen to import from a Blogspot blog whose posts were not titled, did you?

Yes. Thanks. There is just text. It never occurred to me to “title” my blog entries. blogger.com has been having months long search issues with many of its users and has been “looking into” the problem. Does wordpress search just look at titles only rather than text in the posts? Is there any workaround other than to title posts and then see wordpress search only titles rather than content within blog entries??

Hmmm. I posted an entry today and titled it. The search tool did pick up the text within the post and did display the “title” that you then had to click on to see content, rather than displaying the actual content. Is this the way “Search” works in WordPress? The results are there but to see results you always have to click on the “title”? Thanks for any insight. JBIPix

In my test blog, Kubrick acts just as you describe. Clicking on the titles, tags, or categories would link to your posts. The dates don’t do anything.

WordPress does not search titles only. Unfortunately you don’t have much text for it to search .either

If I were you, I wouldn’t necessarily add titles, but I would certainly add categories and tags.

No. the theme you are using is designed to work that way. It is a bit unusual. Several themes allow you to show custom excerpts including images and formatting. Many themes display whole posts and you can use “read more” tag to make articles shorter on search, cat, and tag pages.

Kubrick is especially odd. It displays full artcles for the category and tag pages, but not for search. It’s also odd because the tags and categories under the titles are clickable and lead a reader to your post. Most themes, cats and tags under post lead to global tag pages, not to your own blog.

    Oops.
Forgot the change the privacy setting on the test blog. If you select the first option under settings -> privacy, the tags under post lead to global tag pages.
Select ‘public but block search engines’ or ‘private’ and you get only your own posts.

Thanks for the pointer. Changing to iNove does allow search as I would expect.
