  i understand that the front page has 3 columns, showing 3 different posts. however, below are 3 columns of widgets. the first column is ABOUT. the second is the ARCHIVES (with month/s on the left and categories on the right). the third column shows blog stats, and again, ARCHIVES and CATEGORIES. why is this redundant, having widgets both in the middle and the right column? Is there a better way to manage this? thank you.

  Go to appearance > widgets and add whatever widgets you want to the three widget sections and the default sample sets will go away.
