  WordPress.com doesn’t have the option to delete an account, but you can cancel email notifications and remove your personal information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  thank you, I’ll try that. I was unexpectedly charged by wordpress with no receipt or idea of what it was for, so I’m trying to delete everything as an extra precaution.

  thanks, I actually reached this forum via that link as the direct contact line is closed until Tuesday… thanks though, I’ll be asking them… no updates so it’s quite a mystery.
