deactivate old account
-
Hello. I have two accounts. One called elisabeth28 ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) from 2010 and another, elisabeth@drscheepers. The latter has a website (marriagetroublesite.com) and the other does not. On the website I I log in as elisabeth@drscheepers but lately the display name changes to Elisabeth28. When I try to comment on people’s post it refuses to allow me to post as …drscheepers but as elisabeth28. Also it asks me to log in as elisabeth28 in order to post comments. I don’t want to post with that account as it is not connected to my site. How do I make sure the comments come from the other account and how can I deactivate the elisabeth28 account for any comments?

HI there,
elisabeth@drscheepers is not a username, and it’s not a valid email address either.
The username for the account that owns the domain is just drscheepers
You need to log out of this account, then log back in and type drscheepers as the username, and the correct password for that account. If you don’t remember the password you can type that username in the password reset form:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordThat will send a password reset link to the email address for that account.
Please let me know if you need any more help with this.

I am back!
When I respond to a post of a blogger on their website….it goes automatically to the former email (with the picture). I do not know how to log out. I just overwrote the old email and password with my new one, and it was not accepted.
This is what I tried quite a few times before…so the problem is to really log out….overwriting is not working. Thanks

When you comment on a post it should use whatever username you’re currently logged in as.
Earlier you posted here while logged in as elisabeth28. Now you are posting here as drscheepers, so you’re logged in as a different account now.
If you now comment on a site and it still shows the elisabeth28 username it’s most likely a cookie that’s stuck in your browser. Cookies are files we store in your browser which we use to track your login across different sites. Sometimes they don’t get deleted when you log out of an account, causing problems like this.
The only way to prevent this is to clear your browser cookies each time after you log out of one account and before you log into the next.

Thanks a lot….It were the cookies.
I got rid of all browser history and signed in with the new account.Elisabeth
