Deactivating Old Blog
-
Hi. I want to deactivate a page that I created in 2010, but I forgot the username and the password. The email I used to create this page deleted my account years back. I cannot find the three Proof of Ownership due I can’t access my email anymore, but I can testify that I am the rightful owner of this page. Please let me know how to deactivate/delete this blog. Thank you.

HI Anita,
If you cannot provide verification via our account recovery process that you are the owner of that site, we cannot give you access to the account that owns it or delete the site. We do not make any exceptions in this regard.

Hi Kokkieh,
I can understand the policy, and that is so unfortunate. I am not giving up on this though. Can I get confirmation what email address I used to create the blog? This was so many years ago, and I need to check if I have an access to this email account.
One more thing, is there any difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org? Is there possibility that I registered with wordpress.org instead?
Thanks.
Anita

Can I get confirmation what email address I used to create the blog?
We can’t tell you the email address (you wouldn’t want us to give your address to unverified people I’m sure!) but if you know what it is we can confirm that and you can work on regaining access to it.
As for the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, this may help:
If you’ll send a link to the site we can confirm. And if it is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, you can regain access by modifying the code or the database:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_PasswordJust be sure to get backups with the host first.
