But when I click the above link or retype it in a different browser, it won’t go to the blog and tells me that it has been deactivated. I was under the impression that the type of blog I was using was free…would that be the problem?

Ok…I was able to access it this time. I don’t know what is wrong with the above link or the link from my email that WordPress sent, but now I’m in. Thanks for your help, timethief and rainscoaster.
