We can’t help you at all without a link to your blog, starting with http. and then we also need the link you’re trying to put in the blog.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?
Exactly which browser and version of it are your using? And do you have another browser you can try? These are the instructions for creating links in posts and pages. http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#how-to-create-links Note that you must type the anchor text you want to link to and select (highlight) the anchor text with your mouse, before you click the chain icon.
These are the instructions for creating links in text widgets.

I have done all the above which is why I am so dumbfounded.
I am using firefox 9.0.1 or safari version 5.1.2 I don’t want to use a side bar, I just want to insert a link with in a post on a page. I have tried linking to multiple sites, I can’t even get a link to google. I have tried the link button in the visual editor as well as manually imputing in HTML. Still dead. When in the edit screen if I right click on the text or image I am trying to link, you get the open link in new window/tab option. Once I try to publish or preview that option isn’t even there.

Thanks so much for the follow-up. This thread has been flagged for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting for a response.

Thank you. Strange thing is the link works on my ipad 2. But I have also tried 3 different computers including a macbook pro, macbook and a dell where the link still isn’t functioning.
-
Are you into trying Chrome? https://www.google.com/chrome/?brand=ECBA&installdataindex=yes-apps-yes-promo

no luck in chrome or ie either. but it works on my droid phone as well. it’s like the link is only active on moblie devices?
-
I got it to work in ie so long as I am using compatibility mode. Which is rather troubling because I don’t know anyone who uses ie.
-
Tha’ts extremely weird but thanks so much for hanging in and trying so we have as much information as possible for Staff to work with.

Do you have JavaScript enabled?

Another thing to check too would be to try with all extensions or add-ons disabled.
Ad blockers have been known to conflict like this before.

macmanx java is enabled and i have tested the links functionality on a total of 5 different computers and all the browsers installed on them myself and the links only work in ie in compatibility mode. my main issue is that i have called various people and have had them try the link as well but they too have to use ie, in compatibility mode. i have even gone as far as to try firefox 3.6 and even that browser wont work. that doesn’t make my blog very user friendly.
the link is at the bottom of this post. the link still works on my android phone and ipad2.

Something is way wrong with the Page: http://october132012.wordpress.com/the-reg/
I can’t highlight text with the cursor – strange
Probably best to ask staff to take a look: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Can you please try with all extensions or add-ons disabled?
Ad blockers have been known to conflict like this before.

The links won’t work for me on three different browsers and I don’t have Ad Blocker or any fancy stuff on any of the browsers – nor can I as noted above highlight any text on the page.
