  Hi,

  I recommend using a Yoast SEO plugin. It gives a simplified feature to add meta tags.
  1. Install and Activate Yoast SEO.
  2. Go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Yoast SEO
  3. Go to SEO -> Titles & Meta -> Homepage Tab
  4. You can add your Title template and meta description.
  5. After you’re done Click the Save Changes button.
