Deciding to use ecommerce vs business
-
I’m selling an instructional course that can only be taken in our physical classroom. I won’t be selling an actual product which can be shipped. I would like to be able to take payments directly from our website. Should I use the business account and add a payment option? What would you recomend?

Hi there,
You could do this on our Premium Plan if you wanted to – you can use our Simple Payments button that works through PayPal to collect payments, and use a contact form to process the actual orders/bookings.

Or else you can use a plugin like WooCommerce. WooCommerce comes with support for selling virtual products built in, and you could also sell your courses as a bookable product using the WooCommerce Bookings add-on if that’s more suitable.
You could use either the Business or eCommerce plan for this – the main difference between the two is that if you create a site on the eCommerce plan, WooCommerce comes pre-installed along with several payment gateway plugins. But the Business Plan will also allow you to install WooCommerce and any payment gateway plugin you need.
Note that WooCommerce Bookings, should you want to use that, is a premium add-on sold by WooCommerce.com, and not included in our plans. You can contact WooCommerce support directly and use the presales option if you have any questions about their plugins:
