Declining search engine links, especially on pages
-
Im wondering if maybe some of you can help me with this problem.
When I first started this blog I got a number of hits from Google searches. However, recently I haven’t been getting any at all, despite still having the same posts on the blog that were originally getting the hits. Is there some effect where after your post has been on your blog for a while search engines stop picking it up?
In addition, I have put some material on pages because they were simply too long, and would have buried everything else recently posted (as well I wanted them to be constantly visible from page links).
A good example is my Master’s thesis (on a page). I have gotten one hit for this post in about 2 months, despite my thinking that it would come up under a search like “Cambodia human rights”. (The only hit was someone searching for my supervisor’s name).
I heard that Google’s spider only searches the first 100k of a page or post. If that’s true, maybe its not getting into the body of the paper. In that case would one solution be to hide keywords in the beginning of the page?
Any help on getting search engine hits to pages would be welcome.

It ebbs and flows based on the interests of those surfing the web. I’ve had entries sit idle for months. Then for whatever reason, there’s a surge in hits.

Thanks for your reply…
Update: I have been trying to figure out what’s going on with this particular page (My Master’s Thesis). I have done searches on both Google and Yahoo, using ” ” searches (i.e. find exact phrase) from the title of my thesis and it shows nothing- not a single result and nothing in “supplementary pages”. Is this normal? I thought the search engines should always find something as long as the page exists.
Then I used dogpile and it did come up using “find exact phrase” function, but only on Windows Live (I have windows live installed on my computer- I don’t know if that makes any difference.)
I am wondering if maybe there is something in that page which is preventing search engines from finding that page. I inserted the text for that page from a pre-formatted Word doc supplied by my university. Is it possible that there is something in the code which is obstructing search engines.
By the way, in researching this I found an interesting forum entry about how to reduce duplication in indexing here: http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3097706-1-30.htm
Also, when I conducted a search for my site, the results are clogged up with old tag links from virtually every wordpress service in the world (many of which I found were no longer active links). I don’t know if there is any solution to this.
My site is http://interissueforum.wordpress.com
