  I want to “forward” an existing domain name to my WordPress.com site. How do I find the “dedicated” IP address to my wordpress blog site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  WordPress.COM does not have fixed IP addresses for blogs – about 6 or so IP addresses for some 30,000,000 blogs – the IP addresses change based on server load and site maintenance

  Domain mapping is supported and works nicely

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  “Forwarding” an address confuses visitors and you never build up any SEO for the name that is forwarded

  Thank you for your prompt answer. It solves a lot of needless effort to make it happen the other way. So, my question at this point would be: if I want the new domain name that has been registered at another host to be the predominate URL for the site I now have here, can a transfer be arranged? How would that be done?

  WordPress.COM is not set up for incoming domain name transfers – follow the instructions I gave above – works nice – the site linked to my name is domain mapped with the registration not at WordPress.COM
