Defamation
-
Hello,
There is a person that opened a blog with a post hosting libelous information against me.
There are false accusations (provable so) and information on my location, name, profession. I feel threatened by this person.
These information are damaging my reputation and my career.I contacted wordpress but they didn’t take down the website.
I am not mentioning the address here for not giving it further publicity and because I am afraid this person is monitoring the forum.
My lawyer said that a sue for defamation would be really expensive and I can’t afford it now.
Does anyone have any suggestion for what to do?
If someone from wordpress will contact me I would be happy to give the address of the blog in private.
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Try this
Abuse – Freedom of Speech:
http://en.wordpress.com/freedom-of-speech/
http://en.wordpress.com/abuse/
http://en.wordpress.com/complaints/

If you did not use the Abuse or Complaints links auxclass has given you, then WP.com will not proceed. You must start there.
You can actually file the papers to sue someone for defamation yourself, without a lawyer. You probably won’t win, but generally they’ll fold just from the threat.

Hi there,
I’m so sorry to hear about this! Please do as @raincoaster and @auxclass have suggested. Once you have submitted the form please let me know if you have any questions or do not hear back from our ToS team. I’d be happy to look into it!

Thank you very much for the answer.
I did use the abuse complaints but the automated reply was:Thank you for bringing this to our attention, but please note that WordPress.com is in no position to arbitrate content disputes or assess the validity of your claim that the material is false, defamatory, or impersonating. In addition, U.S. Federal law provides immunity for WordPress.com in this context. See 47 U.S.C. § 230. You can also learn more here:

We recommend contacting the user directly to resolve this issue. You can do so by commenting on the specific post or page (if the user has comments enabled), or checking to see if he/she has contact information listed on the site.
If you’d like us to remove this content, please provide us with a U.S. court order including a court’s decision regarding this particular content; if any content is found to be defamatory or illegal by a U.S. court of law, we will remove it immediately. For legal requests from outside the United States, we ask that the request be served via a United States court or enforcement agency under the procedures of an applicable mutual assistance legal treaty or letter rogatory.
I don’t want to contact the person responsible as I have been threatened by this person in the past. It seems absurd to me that they don’t take this seriously. The blog comes up in the first page of results when googling me, with details of my workplace. This violates my privacy and security. There are photos taken from my facebook page (that are now private but they were not).
@ raincoaster: Do you happen to have a link for how/where to do this? I am a foreign citizen and so I don’t even know where to start. I will look it up anyway. And thanks.
p.s. as an update, my lawyer just told me there is another wordpress blog with the same info, under another address. I really feel I am being persecuted and wordpress seems to be helping this person in doing so.

In a 16 November comment on thread begun by myself on 14 November, 2014, timethief said,
Lawyers do not provide advice in support forums threads and anyone purporting to provide legal advice by that method ought to be immediately reported to the relevant bar association for their jurisdiction.
This is a technical support forum where we deal only with WordPress.com support issues. Anything other than technical support questions and answers to them is considered to be spam and treated accordingly.
