Default category

  HI!
  When I post anything in my blog and add a category, somehow, the category changes to my default category. I cannot add any categories or get rid of it. So right now I’m changing my default category everytime I make a post on my blog. Do you have an advice?

  Under Settings > Writing, you have a default category set. Usually it’s “Uncategorized” when you start out. So you’re noticing that when you make a new post, you can’t change the category from that default category to one of your existing categories? Or are you talking about something else?

  No, that’s about right. I do know how to change the default category, but I can only create posts in the default category. As you say, when creating new posts, I cannot change the category to any othe than the default category

  Hmm.. that’s weird. No list of categories appears over on the right when you make a new post, like in the image I’ve linked below?

  

  Can you share a screenshot of what your post screen looks like?

  Yes, they do. And I can chose them as well. But as soon as I publish my post, the category gets changed by itself to my default category. It’s so annoying.

  And yet, I can see posts inside each category you have in your navigation menu, so at least some of them must be ending up there. Is that only happening because you go back into the post and change the category to what it’s supposed to be after you’ve posted it?

  Yeah! Lately I have been changing my default category every time I made a post. That is the only way, I can be sure they end up where they are supposed to

  That’s frustrating! I wonder if you should post this over in the Themes forum since it sounds like a theme bug?

  Yeah, I can try. Thank you!
  But isn’t it strange? I’ve just tried searching for people with same problem, but didn’t have any luck. How can I just be the only one?

  Yes, I’ve never heard of anything like this. I’d be curious if other users of this theme have the same problem.
