Default discussion article settings are not working

  • Unknown's avatar

    I want to allow people to post comments on my posts/articles. I checked the discussion settings and that seems to be ok. Default article settings are on. I saved the settings. I cleared my browser history and cookies, but still there is no comment field on my blog: foodiefredi.wordpress.com. I use the theme ýumblog’.

    Please help me

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy!

    The front page of your site just shows the articles themselves, while the comment form is reserved for the full article view. This is pretty standard practice across most themes, so that the front page doesn’t get cluttered with 10 comment forms. If you click on the link to the full article (http://foodiefredi.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/woohoo-mijn-eerste-blogpost/), you will see the comment form.

    If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

    Thank you for the reply! I have one more question. I purchased the Yumblog theme: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/yumblog/
    It is suposed to have an integrated recipe scheme plugin. But I can’t find it. I use the free version of WordPress (.com). So I don’t have a plugin menu. Does that mean that I can’t use the Yumblog recipe plugin?

    Thank you for the reply! I have an other question:
    I want to use the recipe code:

    [recipe title="Summer Pasta with Basil, Tomatoes and Cheese" servings="4-6" time="2hr 30mins" difficulty="easy"]
    Put your recipe here. Tip: use ordered and unordered lists, headings, images, and links to improve the look of your recipe.
    [/recipe]

    But this is in English. Is there a way that i can translate this in Dutch? I tried, but the print button dissappears when i do that.

    It looks like your first question no longer applies because you appear to have found the code for inserting a recipe (please correct me if I’m wrong).

    When you translate the code, you need to be sure to keep the following parts in English, as these are the parts that the theme files looks for to show the recipe as intended:

    [recipe title="" servings="" time="" difficulty=""][/recipe]

    Then, you should be able to enter your Dutch text in the available spaces and that is how it should be displayed on your site.

    Give that a try and let me know how it works out.

    Thanks!

    So it is not possible to translate the words ‘servings’ and ‘difficulty’?
    I entered the dutch text in the available spaces and the englisch word ‘time’ automatically is being translated into the dutch word ‘tijd’. Also the printing link is in dutch: ‘afdrukken’. But ‘servings’ and ‘difficulty’ are still in English.

    Is there a way to translate it all?

    Hi Fredi,

    After looking into this further, I have discovered that those two terms (servings and difficulty) have not yet been translated into Dutch. If you can provide the Dutch equivalent for those terms, I can add them to the review queue to be added shortly, after which, the terms should be translated.

    For now, continue to use the shortcode in the manner you have been, so that the schema markup works correctly and so that when the translation comes into effect, the recipes you have already entered will work as desired.

    Thanks a lot! The best translation in Dutch is:

    servings = aantal personen
    difficulty = moeilijkheidsgraad

    Kind regards,
    Fredi

    Hi Fredi,

    I have submitted those translations. I am not sure how long they take to get approved, but we should be on the right path now.

    If you’re interested in contributing more to the Dutch translation of WordPress.com, feel to check out http://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/nl/default

    Thanks!
