Default domain name
-
Hi there, I have created site with auto assigned domain name outdoorspodcast.wordpress.com I played around for awhile with themes and reached the point where themes were not applied correctly. Decided to start over, deleted the site and while creating the new site domain name outdoorspodcast.wordpress.com was not available anymore as it now defaults to the page with info about site deletion. Is it possible to assign old outdoorspodcast.wordpress.com name to my current site which is under outdoorspodcastblog.wordpress.com url?
Best regards,
TommyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry that you missed the warnings while deleting your site.
Once deleted, it’s not possible to use the domain name again. Sites already deleted by their authors two or more years ago may become available again, if they present no username or other technical conflicts.
See https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ and https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/ for more details.

Hi akumarjain I am also sorry that I didn’t understand the message. Thank you for your reply.
I was just hoping that tech support would be able to recycle that domain name sooner than in two years, since it was the domain associated with my username. I sent them a message from the support web page but had neither confirmation of reception nor reply.
Thank you.

I don’t see any such possibility. However, I am tagging this thread for a final word from the support staff.
Please wait till someone from the support staff gets back to you on this.

Hi Tommy,
As akumarjain mentioned, it’s not possible to recover the WordPress.com address once a site has been deleted. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
You now have two options:
- Create a new site with a similar name
- Add a custom domain to your site
I sent them a message from the support web page but had neither confirmation of reception nor reply.
This thread is the only support request we have received from the account you are logged in to now. We aren’t able to restore the address for you but hopefully one of the options I mentioned above will help.

Hi gemmacevans,
thanks for your answer, this is very unfortunate. I understand this is by design, process issue rather than technical one.Kind regards,
Tommy
