Default edit mode changed to text

  I’m having the same problem as the poster below — in both IE9 and Firefox:

  I switch to visual every time, and it always switches back on me.
  I’ve tried clearing the cache in IE9 several times, as advised in a previous exchange about this problem. I’ve also logged out and logged back in, as the recent staff reply said. Nothing works.

  Can anything else be tried?
