Default Editor

  The default editor has switched from Visual to Text. This is a pain. How do I switch it back to visual as the default.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there!

  The editor should open in Visual or Text based on your latest selection. For example, if the last time you were editing a post you stopped editing and closed the window while in the Text editor, we’ll display the text editor the next time you visit the editor.

  If you see that this isn’t working correctly, can you please clear your cache and cookies and let me know if it’s still not working properly:

  I’ve done that multiple times. I’m not sure what else to do. It keeps defaulting to text. I’ll check the ios apps that I’ve tried using in the past and maybe it’s in there. I’ve completely cleared my cache, cookies and history on all browsers and that didn’t do anything.

  Thanks for doing that. I’m personally also experiencing this issue with my own editor, but other Happiness Engineers are not, so I have some questions for you about your set up.

  1. What’s your browser and its version? You can tell by visiting this site:

  https://www.whatismybrowser.com/

  2. Which editor are you using? The dashboard editor? or the WordPress.com homepage editor?

  3. Do you have any extensions or plugins installed in your browser?

  1) I’m having the issues on two separate systems:
  – Chrome 36 on Mac OS X (Mavericks
  and
  – Chrome 36 on Windows 7

  2) I generally use the Dashboard editor.

  And I have the following extensions:
  – TweetDeck
  – Instapaper
  – Google Cast
  – Feedly
  – DivX Plus Web Player HTML5
  – Chrome Remote Desktop

  Thanks so much for that info! Our developers have been notified of this issue. It seems to be affecting specifically Chrome and possibly IE11. And it looks like they plan to have a fix in place by the end of the week, pending other issues.

  I’ll let you know when we’ve gotten it fixed up. In the meantime, it looks like everything is working properly in Firefox if this is hindering your ability to post. :)

  Thanks for the quick and consistent follow-up! It was more just a minor inconvenience as I switch back and forth. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything bigger.

  I’ll keep an eye out for the fix.

  Fabulous! I had to clear my cache, so that may have just been how long it took the cache to clear naturally. :)
