“default mail client is not properly installed” ??

Okay so my plan is to set up my blog for a class I’m taking at the University of Windsor. My goal is to have Google Alerts post automatically to my blog. I’m not sure how to do this, I set up a google account and set up two different alerts. I set the alerts to be delivered through email, but nothing has showed up. When I click on the email I set up to recieve the alerts (under the manage blogs section) I get an error message reading “Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed”

Okay but when I get to step two I’m confused. I generated the special email, but how do I sign in to the wordpress-specific email?
