Default number of posts shown in Apostrophe theme

Hi. The default setting shows 9 posts on the main page of the Apostrophe theme. It would look 1000% better if it would default to 18 posts.

Question — is there any way to change the default from 9 to 18?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should be able to change the number of posts that display on the front page of your site by going to your site’s WP Admin Dashboard>Settings>Reading>Blog pages show at most XX posts. Remember to save/update your changes.

This should work OK for Apostrophe where the front page is basically the grid image and post title. If someday you change themes again to one that shows the post content, you’ll want to change that to a lower number (for faster loading).

Let us know how that goes.

Well, I can change the number of “recent posts” in the right side widget. It’s the center area I’m trying to change (I do not see any switch for this in the customize area). There’s an “older posts” button, but having the extra grid of 9 would make the page look much better.

WP Admin Dashboard>Settings>Reading>Blog pages show at most XX posts is where you can change this setting, not in the Customizer.

For your above site that would be

Thanks so much. I’m not much on the internal workings of wordpress (obviously) and was looking under customize.

You’re welcome! There very well could be a setting in the Customizer to handle this, but to be honest, I’m not that familiar with the kishkes of the Customizer and the New Dash. My definite preference is for working from the WP Admin Dashboard.

    Best wishes!

The funny thing: I do not always get that option in “settings.” The link you provided is the one that helps me — but when I go to settings from my homepage (the command list down the left side when you mouse over “my site”), I get a completely different page without the options in the link you sent. Odd, huh?

That drop down list from the “My Sites” in the Admin bar is actually meant to be different and for some features brings you to the New Dash rather than the WP Admin Dashboard. Confusing, isn’t it? :)

If you click on the WP Admin link in that drop down menu, it will bring you to your site’s Dashboard rather than the New Dash.

Thanks again. Had never noticed that. Sometimes it appears that WP changes something just for the sake of change (or appearance of change). The reason I couldn’t properly administer my WP blog is just for this reason — I wasn’t seeing the tool I NEEDED. Kind of like the new/old stats pages.

    You’re welcome again.

What we really need is a GoogleMaps(tm) Streetview(tm) of the WP Dashboard! :)
