Default Widgets
-
I’m really sorry if this has been asked but I couldn’t find it on the forum.
I’m trying to get rid of the default widgets on my pages without any widgets. I tried a blank text widget but then a box comes up with no words in it.
On these specific pages I would just prefer nothing on the sides at all. Here is a url for one of them.

The theme you are using, Parament, unfortunately does not have a “Full-Width” Page template (despite the somewhat misleading description of the image Attachment page that appears when the Image Carousel is turned off).
If having a full-width page is a must, then perhaps you should consider another theme that supports it. Start here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/full-width-template/

@rain-if you do that, then the default set of widgets for Parament reappear in the sidebar (Recent Posts and Meta).

Thanks for your answers, that was a little confusing though.
Does my theme stop me from having a page with no widgets on the side at all?

Thank you Jennifer, last question.
Which of those available themes do you feel most closely resembles the Parament theme, if I was to change it that is?
-
What? That’s insane. So there’s ONE theme that works differently from all the other themes here? I give up. I won’t be answering any more theme questions.
-
@jordanpayne-sorry, no time to check for you. :) You can try out any theme using your content from your site’s Dashboard using the Customizer.
@rain – I’m not aware that throwing in a blank text widget in a sidebar and then removing it does anything. Once you remove it, the theme’s default set of widgets take over. I don’t think Parament is the exception.

Thanks so much for all your help Jennifer, no worries !
I decided I’m going to keep this theme because I really like it and just throw some short quotes on the pages I don’t want widgets on I think that will work.

No, whenever you put something in the sidebar, it has always wiped out the prefab set of widgets. Then you can put more in or take it out and leave it empty.

“whenever you put something in the sidebar, it has always wiped out the prefab set of widgets”
Correct.
“Then you can put more in”
Correct.
“or take it out and leave it empty”
Incorrect – and it’s the first time I see you saying this! No widgets added by the user equals prefab set. It’s always been so (except on themes that don’t have a prefab set, in which case no widgets added by the user equals no sidebar).
