We need a link to the blog you are talking about. From what you are saying, it sounds as if your blog is self-hosted. We do not download and install themes here. We have a set selection of themes listed under appearance > themes in our dashboards and we can only use those.
IF you are talking about the blog linked to your username, then the widgets you see now in the sidebar are a sample set created by the theme so that you can see what the theme looks like with widgets. Once you add a widget to the sidebar under appearance > widgets, the default sample display of widgets will disappear. Simply add the widgets you want to the sidebar and arrange them as you wish.

@mtaboy
Go to the bottom of the site you have linked to your username. In the foorter on the far right hand corner you see this link “Proudly powered by WordPress. ” Click that link and here is where you arrive wordpress.ORGIf you want help with that site you cannot get it here at wordpress.COM support forums, as wordpress.COM is only for those who have free blogs which are being free hosted by wordpress.COM
All others with blogs hosted by any other web host must post to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ for help. We cannot help them here.
At the top of this forum is a sticky post. In it the differences between wordpress.ORG and wordpress.COM are clearly described > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
