default writing font and color settings for 2014 theme

  I have the 2014 theme. the default link color seems to be green, i would much prefer traditional blue. Also, more importantly, the default text color seems to be a light grey. i always have to highlight and choose black, and whenever i type in new text i often have to do it again. i really don’t want to have to buy the custom design upgrade just for these two issues.
  Also, on my header picture, i would like to overlay some lettering. Is there any way to do this.
