Defining when custom means fully custom or from a choice of options

I am seeking to add my logo, my colors (from my logo) and my font to a theme on WordPress.
When I search for “custom” designs, it seems that some allow for full customization while others allow for OPTIONS that make their design custom.
How can I search for designs that will allow me to a) customize my color scheme to MY colors and b) customize my fonts to the TYPEKIT that I have saved to my worldpress site?

    Thank you!

  • You can do what you’re looking for to any theme with a Custom Design upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

    Thank you for your input.

I think my $99 included this “upgrade” (would think the WorldPress team can ‘see’ this) so with 3 designs, I have been:
    a) unable to install my font typekit (I could create it just can’t add it to the designs I selected) and
    b) unable to use my custom colors, with the exception of one design, which lead me to think that custom means partially custom for some themes and fully custom for others.

I am potentially interested in purchasing a theme but don’t want to do so (even with the money back guarantee) IF my colors and font are not possible on that theme.

    Thank you!

  • a. If the font is not offered in our list of fonts via Appearance -> Custom Design -> Fonts, you’ll need to switch to the Advanced interface (via a link near the top-right of the panel) and work with Typekit to get that font up and placed as desired.

    b. The colors that you want to change need to be set via CSS. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

Thank you for the response for “b” – I will work through that. The confusing part is that some themes allow you to enter your custom color codes but others don’t so I wasn’t sure if that was the basis for customization.

For “a” I understood that and last week set up a font thru Typekit AND I loaded that to my blog/site AND to each theme I have selected. HOWEVER, not one theme has allowed my Typekit defined font to be used. Thank you for your continued guidance.

  • Well, you definitely have it configured correctly on our end. Have you contacted Typekit?

    Thank you.
I purchased a premium theme and both issues are resolved per this upgrade.
